Coke, a player with his own parody Twitter account and widely despised by most Tigers fans, did not have a good year for the Tigers last year. Just one season removed from taking over the closer role for the team in the postseason, Coke was inconsistent out of the pen with a 5.40 ERA with a 4.9 BB/9. He is one of the only left handed relievers currently on the Tigers roster and the only in the pen with Drew Smyly moving to the rotation and Jose Alvarez most likely heading back to the minors, which ultimately made this move inevitable for the front office.
It makes two transactions for the Tigers in two days, the first coming late Wednesday night when the Tigers front office sent Prince Fielder to the Texas Rangers for Ian Kinsler.
